The unique Soundskin phototherapy system incorporates red and blue lights in the same lamp housing, and uses both colours within the same treatment. This is the first system using red and blue lights to achieve FDA approval for the treatment of mild to moderate acne.

The red light runs for 10 minutes then changes to blue light for 10 minutes, at the end of the 20 minute cycle it automatically shuts off. Although it's classed as a medical device, the light falls well within Health and Safety Executive guidelines for occupational exposure of unprotected eyes and skin.

The lamps are dichroic filtered with no UV content, as the output is not as intense as a laser or IPL it doesn't traumatize the skin. A non invasive and drug free procedure, suitable for the 30% of adults and teenagers that suffer with moderate Acne prone skin.

The red wavelengths create anti-inflammatory stimulation within the pores and follicles of problem skin; the blue light helps stimulate porphyrin in the sebum to release oxygen to create a photodynamic effect on the P.Acne bacteria. The oxygenation process helps to reduce encapsulated inflammation within the spots, allowing the pores and follicles to shrink as naturally as possible.

In studies there was marked reduction in inflammatory spots at 12 weeks. With a top up treatment every 2 weeks these results were maintained in the majority of clients for 20 weeks. Studies prove there is a positive link between coloured lights and increased fibroblast activity. It is essential to increase collagen production for new cell growth for acne prone skin and mature skin.

Studies show that red and blue wavelengths help to produce a natural response within the dermal layers. Stimulating the dermis helps to improve the appearance of the epidermis long term. A course of treatments produces a soft and bright appearance to the skin. There is no visible trauma to the ckin, and the treatment can be performed in the lunch hour.

Microdermabrasion treatments show vast improvement when combined with Soundskin phototherapy, the deep exfoliation helps to reduce excessive sebum build up that can turn into Comedones and spots.
